Hartlepower welcomes and celebrates the diversity of Hartlepool’s faith communities, recognising the strength and value of different cultural traditions co-existing in the town and possibilities presented for greater understanding between people of different heritages. Likewise Hartlepower welcomes and celebrates the co-existence of people with different sexualities, political beliefs and physical & learning abilities.
Hartlepower’s overriding purpose is to promote community benefit in Hartlepool – economically, environmentally & socially – so that people’s sense of wellbeing is increased.
We work with and alongside people and organisations – for as long as is necessary for them to achieve their goals. Our goal is to empower people/organisations so that they take responsibility for their goals. We never act in ways to create dependency by doing for people/organisations what they can do for themselves.
We will be clear and explicit about what we do and why – e.g. this public statement of our values, mission and priorities. We will provide regular accounts of all our activities.
We will listen carefully to the perspectives and priorities of anybody/organisation with whom we work. Only by understanding how people understand their circumstances and goals is it possible to get alongside them and collaborate respectfully.
Hartlepower’s trustees and staff have long observed that only when people work together – putting aside their egos, personal interests, rivalries and past, petty grievances – and concentrate solely on the issue or need at hand (the needs of Hartlepool as set out in a vision for the town) are the greatest effects achieved. We therefore value collaborative work that includes all interested parties and will always strive to work collaboratively.
As an agency advising, assisting and supporting organisations and businesses we will strive to meet the standards of best practice and ethical behaviour – such as in recruitment – that we urge others to adopt in their approach, procedures, practice & conduct.
